 SEM Marketing is a method of internet marketing that involves the promotion of websites by increasing their visibility in search engine results pages (SERPS) primarily through paid advertising. SEM may incorporate Search Engine Optimization (SEO), which adjusts or rewrites website content and site architecture to achieve a higher ranking in search engine results pages to enhance pay per click (PPC) listings.


SEM Marketing is also known as paid search marketing, paid search advertising, or PPC (pay-per-click) marketing.


In simple words, SEM Marketing is the process of gaining website traffic by purchasing ads on search engines. For example, if we bid on different keywords through any PPC advertising platform such as Google Adwords, then our website will appear in sponsored listings of Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs).


We can target keywords related to our business and when our targeted customers are using those keywords while searching for products or services we offer, our ad will be displayed next to the organic results. When someone clicks on our ad then we have to pay an amount to the advertising platform as per the terms and conditions of that ad platform.
